Alexander Calder and Klaus G. Perls

The friendship between sculptor Alexander Calder and his gallery representative Klaus G. Perls turned the two men into “family.”  Unfortunately, the tight bond was recently shattered when Calders’ heirs claimed fraud.

The Calder heirs accused Perls of withholding tens of millions of dollars from the sculptor, selling fakes and cheating taxes by hiding millions of dollars in a Swiss bank account.

The estate of Klaus Perls was found not guilty and the case was dismissed. According to Steven Wolfe, the estate’s lawyer: The case has been dismissed and the Court found, among other things, that the accusations were baseless.

Wolfe shared with us the full court ruling, click here to read.
